Mr. Tran joined the Dublin Unified School District on July 27th, 2018. He was the first full-time music teacher at Cottonwood Creek School when it opened in August 2018. On March 16th, 2023, Mr. Tran announced that he was the new instrumental music teacher for Emerald High School which is Dublin Unified's Second comprehensive high school.
During the 2023-2024 school year, Emerald High School started off on the campus of Dublin High School which consisted of a freshmen class only. Mr. Tran taught one section of EHS band and one section of EHS orchestra. In addition to building the program at EHS, Mr. Tran was also a music teacher at Dublin High School. He taught band and orchestra courses, assisted the Dublin Irish Guard, and was a guest conductor for the Chamber Orchestra's performance at The 2023 Midwest Clinic: International Band and Orchestra Conference.
On April 21st, 2026, Mr. Tran was named Educator of the Year for Emerald High School by the Rotary Club of Dublin.
Before his time in Dublin, he has taught in the Fremont Unified School District doing numerous assignments from 2012-2020. He was the beginning-advanced band director for seven elementary schools, clarinet specialist and director of bands for the Hopkins Jr. High elementary bands, and American/Mission San Jose/Washington High School attendance area coordinator. He was also the elementary band instructor for the Newark Unified School District in 2018.
He holds a Bachelors of Music Degree with an emphasis in Music Education as well as a California Teaching Credential from San Jose State University.
On May 8th, 2019, Mr. Tran was named the Dublin Unified School District 2018-2019 New Teacher of the Year! In the summer of 2019, Mr. Tran was recognized by the community of Fremont as an MVP at the Fremont Fourth of July Parade.
He has previously performed with the Ohlone Community Band, Newark Symphonic Winds, and the Virtual Concert Band ("On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss" and "Sheltering Sky"). Mr. Tran is currently a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and its state affiliate the California Music Education Association (CMEA); the American String Teacher Association (ASTA); the California Band Directors Association (CBDA); the Northern California Band Association (NCBA); the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA); and the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA).

Toran Davenport is excited to be teaching the inaugural choir class at Emerald High School this year! Mr. Davenport also teaches choral music at Wells Middle School and general music at Frederiksen Elementary School in Dublin Unified School District. He is in his 8th year of public school teaching, and has taught all grades k-12, choir, competitive jazz choir, band, orchestra, general music, and musical theatre.
Mr. Davenport received his BA in music from California State University East Bay, and also received his single subject teaching credential in music the following year. Before teaching, he had sung with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus and worked with Chanticleer’s education programs. In 2025, Mr. Davenport received a Certificate of Recognition from the mayor of Dublin for his “dedication to musical education, his joyful and inclusive teaching, and his extraordinary efforts to uplift, empower, and inspire young learners through the power of music.”
